Alba partners with Regain for its Spent Pot Lining Treatment Plant

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest aluminium smelter ex-China, has signed Regain as the technology partner for its Spent Pot Lining (SPL) Treatment Plant.

In September, Alba announced the establishment of the first-of-its-kind SPL Treatment Plant in the GCC and Bahrain. The company will start operations at its new plant by the first quarter of 2021. The plant will have the capacity to treat 30,000 to 35,000 tonnes of SPL a year.

 Alba’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Shaikh Daij said: “Alba Spent Pot Lining Treatment Plant is about ‘pioneering the future’. Australian-based Regain has treated more than 370,000 tonnes of SPL from smelters since 2002.
